El-Sisi Highlights Egypt’s Role in Middle East Peace Efforts
Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s continued intensive efforts to achieve calm and reduce tensions sustainably to revive the political process and lead to lasting and just peace in the Middle East. President El-Sisi made these remarks during a meeting with Admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), at Al-Ittihadiya Palace.
According to Emirates News Agency, President El-Sisi emphasized the critical role of mediation by Egypt, the United States, and Qatar to achieve an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This mediation aims to secure the release of hostages and captives and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the affected areas.
The meeting between President El-Sisi and Admiral Cooper also underscored the strategic nature of Egyptian-American relations. President El-Sisi highlighted the importance of the upcoming ‘Bright Star 2025’ military exercises as a testament to the ongoing security and defense cooperation between the two countries.
Both leaders agreed on the necessity of maintaining close coordination between Egypt and the United States to contain the escalation in the Middle East and bolster efforts to maintain security, peace, and stability amid the current security challenges.
