Armed Forces Unification Celebrated as Protective Shield of UAE Union


Fujairah: H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, highlighted the unification of the Armed Forces, a decision taken on 6th May 1976, as a key factor in the UAE’s military pride and global standing in safeguarding national security and stability.



According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Hamad emphasized that the decision reflects the foresight of the UAE’s Founding Fathers, who recognized the necessity of a formidable army to protect the homeland and its achievements. In his statement marking the 49th anniversary of this unification, he underscored the Armed Forces as a crucial pillar of the nation and a vital element of the Union.



The unification is hailed as a significant milestone in UAE history, symbolizing a strong belief in the union’s success under a centralized leadership and military framework. This move has strengthened the UAE’s role in promoting peace and contributing to both regional and global stability.



Sheikh Hamad also commended the remarkable progress of the Armed Forces, particularly in the defence industries, where they have excelled in adopting modern technologies and developing skilled national military personnel. These advancements enhance the operational readiness of the forces, positioning them as leaders among global military institutions.



He remarked that the unification represents a commitment to national loyalty and unity, reflecting the nation’s achievements and challenges. It emphasizes the importance of social cohesion in securing a promising future for subsequent generations.



Furthermore, he honored the UAE’s fallen heroes, who have exemplified courage and dedication to the nation, and expressed his pride in the Armed Forces’ members, acknowledging their role in maintaining the nation’s security and stability. “You are the protective shield of our Union and its proud march,” he stated.



Sheikh Hamad extended his heartfelt congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and other key leaders, as well as the Armed Forces’ personnel and the people of the UAE. He concluded with a reaffirmation of dedication to national duty, expressing a wish for the UAE’s continued pride, strength, and progress.
