**EtihadWE and Ras Al Khaimah’s IDO Sign MoU to Explore Preferential Electricity Tariffs for Industrial Sector**


RAS AL KHAIMAH: Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Investment and Development Office of Ras Al Khaimah (IDO) to investigate the feasibility of offering preferential electricity tariffs to industrial customers within the emirate. The agreement aims to bolster the industrial sector by potentially providing access to discounted electricity rates.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed in the presence of Sheikh Khalid bin Saud Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah’s Investment and Development Office, and Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Etihad Water and Electricity. This agreement is a strategic component of EtihadWE’s efforts to support the industrial sector in the Northern Emirates and sets the stage for negotiating a binding electricity bulk supply agreement (BSA) between EtihadWE and a nominee identified by IDO.

The anticipated BSA, once final
ized, is expected to provide qualifying industrial customers in Ras Al Khaimah with access to preferential electricity rates via a bulk aggregation mechanism. Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity, remarked on the significance of the MoU, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to fostering a positive business environment that encourages economic growth and job creation in the region.

From the perspective of the Investment and Development Office of Ras Al Khaimah, Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, Managing Director, highlighted the shared commitment to enhancing business support and stimulating growth in the emirate. The collaboration is seen as a pathway to making energy more accessible and affordable, thereby creating significant opportunities for industries, employees, and the broader community.
