Federation of UAE Chambers and JETRO Japan discuss joint business council plans


DUBAI: Humaid Mohammed bin Salem, Secretary-General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, has discussed the membership structure and requirements for joining the UAE-Japan Business Council which was established in July 2023.

The discussion took place during his meeting in Dubai with the Director-General of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Dubai and the Middle East, accompanied by their delegation, with Ahmed Juma Al Kaabi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Chambers Union, also present.

Both parties focused on collaborating across public and private sectors in the trade, technology, healthcare, education, and investment spheres between their respective countries.

Humaid bin Salem emphasised the UAE Chambers’ commitment to fulfilling the Joint Business Council’s objectives of boosting trade exchange and investment partnerships between the UAE and Japan. He acknowledged the substantial progress in UAE-Japan commercial ties, highlighted by the council’s formation. This co
uncil, with its open membership across all sectors in both nations, aims to strengthen bilateral commercial relations through enhanced investments and trade flow.

Bin Salem hailed this as a strategic partnership, fostering deeper dialogue and collaboration, increased joint investments, and knowledge transfer of Japanese technology into the UAE’s innovation and discovery landscape.

He encouraged the Japanese private sector to leverage promising investment opportunities in the UAE, particularly in tourism, space exploration, healthcare, oil gas, mining, energy generation, and industrial projects.
