Fujairah Ruler Inaugurates Major Basalt Fibre Facility in Middle East
FUJAIRAH: H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, emphasized the emirate’s dedication to integrating advanced technologies to foster sustainable economic and industrial growth, in line with the UAE Vision 2030 and UAE Centennial 2071. This statement was made during the inauguration of the Middle East’s largest integrated facility for producing basalt fibres and rebars, marking it as the highest-output facility of its kind worldwide.
According to Emirates News Agency, the new facility is poised to significantly contribute to the local demand for basalt fibres. These fibres are highly valued for their lightweight nature, durability, and resistance to corrosion and heat, making them essential in various sectors including construction, transportation, aviation, energy, and advanced industries.
The facility occupies an area of 42,000 square metres and features an annual production capacity of 5,000 tonnes of basalt fibres and 7,000 tonnes of basalt rebars. This de
velopment positions Fujairah as a key player in the global basalt fibre market, aligning with the UAE’s broader strategic goals for economic diversification and technological advancement.
