GMC 2024 Examines AI’s Role in Predicting Events and Shaping Media.


Abu Dhabi: The second day of the Global Media Congress delved into the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in the media landscape with a dynamic panel discussion titled “Foresight Media: How Can AI Predict Events and Guide Media?” The session brought together thought leaders and industry experts to explore how AI-powered tools are revolutionizing media strategies by predicting trends, shaping news coverage, and uncovering emerging issues.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti initiated the panel discussion by emphasizing the impact of AI on enhancing cybersecurity and combatting misinformation in the UAE. He detailed how using AI-powered automated analysis can not only pinpoint cyberattacks but also assist in developing predictive models to help organizations anticipate and manage risks more efficiently.

The group extensively discussed Deep Fake technology, exploring its impact on scams, ransomware, and malicious activities using real-life instances to reinforce th
eir points of view. The members stressed the importance of implementing regulations and protocols to oversee AI technologies and highlighted the essential nature of promoting a culture of security awareness to effectively counter new threats and work towards countering the unethical use of AI.

Andrew Jackson emphasized that G42 has committed to upholding the AI safety guidelines laid out in the Seoul Declaration for Safe, Innovative, and Inclusive AI. As part of this pledge, the company assures that its AI models will not be equipped with cyber functions, biological uses, or persuasive features designed to influence or manipulate people’s decisions or opinions.

To maintain the integrity of content produced through their tools, whether it be voice, text, or video, G42 guarantees the presence of a watermark to confirm its origin as a G42 product and to prevent any misrepresentations.

He highlighted the significance of cooperation between the private and public sectors in creating solutions to tackle the issu
e of Deep Fake technology and emphasized the critical nature of combined endeavors to confront this escalating problem.

The conversation concluded with panelists emphasizing that the balance between innovation and security is paramount, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration will be key to leveraging AI’s potential while safeguarding public interests.
