Hamdan bin Mubarak Engages in FIFA Congress as Morocco, Spain, and Portugal Secure 2030 World Cup
ZURICH: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Chairman of the UAE Football Association, participated in the Extraordinary FIFA Congress via video conferencing. The event saw the presence of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and representatives from 211 national federations.
According to Emirates News Agency, FIFA President Infantino highlighted the unifying power of football in his address, emphasizing its role as a social phenomenon that brings people together peacefully and respectfully. He also referenced the successful hosting of recent tournaments, such as the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
During the congress, FIFA made significant announcements, including the selection of Morocco, Spain, and Portugal as the hosts for the 2030 World Cup. Additionally, Saudi Arabia was confirmed as the host for the 2034 World Cup. The meeting concluded with the announcement that the 75th FIFA Congress will convene in Paraguay on May 15, 2025.
