M42 and Bahrain Royal Medical Services Forge Groundbreaking Healthcare Alliance
Abu Dhabi: M42, a global health leader formed by the merger of Mubadala Health and G42 Healthcare, has partnered with the Royal Medical Services (RMS) of Bahrain in a strategic move to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality across national borders. This collaboration aligns with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi’s ongoing initiatives to position the emirate as a pioneer in healthcare, particularly in organ donation and transplantation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the newly established partnership marks a significant step in advancing healthcare in the region by facilitating access to specialized medical care and encouraging the exchange of medical knowledge between the two nations. As part of this alliance, M42 signed its first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RMS to deliver advanced heart and lung transplant surgical procedures to patients in Bahrain.
This collaboration is part of the National Program for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation ‘Hayat,’ highlighting Abu Dhabi’s expertise in organ transplantation, backed by a robust infrastructure and skilled healthcare professionals. The MoU was signed by Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of Royal Medical Services, and Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, M42 Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, during the Arab Health Exhibition and Conferences.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, a member of the M42 group, will play a key role in this partnership, providing specialized transplantation services. The multi-organ transplant center at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is renowned for its comprehensive transplantation services and has performed over 774 transplants since 2017, with 241 in 2024 alone. The center has been recognized by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi as a Centre of Excellence for Adult Cardiac Surgery.
The collaboration between Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s global expertise and Royal Medical Services’ resources will grant patients in Bahrain access to comprehensive care from pre-operative to post-operative stages. Brig. Gen. (Dr.) Shaikh Fahad expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to enhance healthcare access and outcomes, while Hasan Jasem Al Nowais underscored the alliance’s role in setting new standards for healthcare delivery in the region.
