Maktoum Bin Mohammed Inaugurates Second Phase of Moro Hub Green Data Centre


Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, inaugurated the second phase of the Green Data Centre of Data Hub Integrated Solutions (Moro Hub), a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). This phase is located at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.



According to Emirates News Agency, the first phase of the Green Data Centre was inaugurated in 2023 by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. H.H. Sheikh Maktoum was welcomed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, along with other dignitaries and officials from various state departments and companies.



H.H. Sheikh Maktoum toured the centre and was briefed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer on the integrated solutions being offered, which include digital transformation, Cloud and Hosting services, Cybersecurity, Smart Cities and IoT Services, and Professional and Managed Services. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer emphasized the significance of this development, which aligns with Dubai’s vision for digital transformation and sustainability.



The centre, fully powered by solar energy, is part of a broader project that aims to reach a total capacity of 100 megawatts over 10 phases, covering an area of 100,000 square metres, and has received ‘Tier-III’ certification by the Uptime Institute. The facility serves as a platform for hosting advanced technological solutions and supports the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and digital innovation.



The inauguration was attended by various prominent figures and representatives from entities such as Dubai Digital Authority, Dubai Police, Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, and leading global technology firms including Microsoft, Cisco, and Dell Technologies. These collaborations aim to enhance the region’s digital infrastructure and sustainable development.



The second phase of the Green Data Centre is a global model for combining renewable energy with digital innovations, supporting the UAE’s strategies for clean energy and sustainable digital transformation. Moro Hub’s data centre has set a benchmark for energy efficiency and green technology, supporting businesses to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
