PM Inaugurates Safwan Border Crossing In Basra After Its Rehabilitation
Today, Saturday, the Prime Minister, Muhammad Al-Sudani, inaugurated the Safwan border crossing with Kuwait, after its rehabilitation, according to well-studied plans.
Al-Sudani toured, according to a statement by his media office, the corridors of the building, and was briefed on the work mechanism and the services provided to travelers. He also met, at the port, a number of expatriates from the Arab Gulf countries, and directed to provide the necessary facilities for the brothers to enter Iraq.
The port extends over an area of about (291) dunums, and its new design takes into account increasing the carrying capacity for the passage of trucks and passengers to reach about (1,000) trucks and vehicles per day, and using the latest technologies in the field of completing customs transactions and clearing goods electronically, which will increase customs revenues and reduce congestion and effectively promotes economic and commercial recovery, as well as stimulating tourism movement between Iraq and the Arab Gulf states.
After that, the Prime Minister moved between a number of Husseini processions near the port, and met with those in charge of them and a number of citizens, and praised their generosity as they received the guests of Iraq from the visitors to the holy city of Karbala, to participate in the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
