Ras Al Khaimah: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, delivered a keynote speech at the opening of the second RAK Energy Summit today, outlining Ras Al Khaimah’s commitment to a sustainable future driven by innovation and international collaboration. The summit opened in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, and Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah’s Public Services Department.
According to Emirates News Agency, on the first day of the two-day Summit at Al Hamra International Exhibition and Conference Center, in front of an audience of about 1,000 high-profile attendees, H.H. Sheikh Saud expressed Ras Al Khaimah’s strategic commitment to reduce energy consumption by 30 percent across the Emirate by 2040. He emphasized the centrality of energy to both life and economy, stressing the importance of building a future where energy is available, reliable, affordable, and sustainable

H.H. Sheikh Saud also highlighted that growth should respect and complement Ras Al Khaimah’s natural environment and ecological heritage. He reiterated the Emirate’s commitment to sustainability and noted the role of energy as an enabler of transformation. The Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah expressed eagerness to adopt best practices from around the world and collaborate with partners who share the vision of a sustainable future.
During the summit, H.H. Sheikh Saud engaged with several UAE leaders in the energy sector, including Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. He also met regional leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman, as well as international figures in the energy sector.
The RAK Energy Summit 2024 is supported by Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) as Lead Partner, along with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the UAE Ministry of Climate
Change and Environment, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and over 15 local government entities in Ras Al Khaimah.
