Sharjah Ruler Receives President of Uganda at Al Badi Palace
Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, welcomed Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, at Al Badi Palace. The meeting, which took place on Thursday, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in various sectors including education, culture, and economic development.
According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions covered ongoing projects in Uganda, particularly those centered on education, culture, and infrastructure. These initiatives aim to strengthen ties between Sharjah and Uganda, fostering knowledge exchange and mutual benefits in community development and economic growth.
The Sharjah Ruler also received updates on the progress of the Busoga International Polytechnic (BIP) Institute in Uganda, established under his patronage in 2021. The institute specializes in engineering disciplines, training students for professional careers, and has produced 254 graduates to date.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the plans for Kidepo International Airport in Uganda. The project, featuring a 3.6-kilometre runway and a terminal for 2 million passengers annually, is expected to enhance travel services and boost trade, tourism, and employment in the region.
President Museveni expressed gratitude for the support and hospitality extended by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan, acknowledging the impact of development projects on local communities and the importance of training youth for societal advancement.
The meeting was attended by several officials including Rashid bin Ahmed Al Sheikh, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, and diplomats from both countries.
