Baku: The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) valued at US$5 million aimed at supporting demining efforts in the Karabakh region. The agreement was signed by Mohammed Murad Al Blooshi, the UAE Ambassador to Azerbaijan, and Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency of Azerbaijan (ANAMA).
According to Emirates News Agency, this initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to its global humanitarian role. The nation has a history of supporting demining initiatives around the world, including in countries such as Iraq, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. These efforts have involved funding demining projects and rehabilitating areas impacted by landmines.
