UAE President Announces AED106 Billion Project for 40,000 Homes in Abu Dhabi
Abu dhabi: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today witnessed the launch of 13 new residential projects aimed at delivering over 40,000 homes and residential plots for citizens across the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The initiative, with a total investment of AED106 billion, marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality of life for Emirati families.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreements were signed by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority and the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) with various property developers. The projects include the construction of 25,244 housing units over the next five years at a cost of AED94 billion, alongside the development of approximately 14,876 residential plots worth AED12 billion. The announcement took place at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, where His Highness was briefed on the projects designed to meet international standards.
The developments are intended to create integrated communities with essential services such as commercial centers, mosques, schools, public parks, green areas, and sports facilities. These facilities are planned to meet sustainability goals and support family stability. His Highness emphasized the housing sector as a national priority aimed at improving citizens’ quality of life. He highlighted the significance of building communities that reflect the UAE’s authentic values and identity.
Key figures attending the ceremony included H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and other senior officials. The projects add to ongoing developments like the West Baniyas Housing Project and Yas Canal Housing Project, bringing the total number of new homes and plots under development to around 45,000, scheduled for completion by 2029.
The agreements cover six residential communities in Abu Dhabi city, providing 14,444 housing units at AED55.38 billion, and five communities in Al Ain with 10,480 housing units at AED36.95 billion. Two additional projects in Al Dhafra Region will provide 320 homes. Prominent partners in these projects include Aldar Properties, Bloom Holding, Modon Properties, and others.
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, stated that the agreements align with the Year of Community’s objectives to strengthen family bonds and social cohesion. He praised His Highness’ vision and commitment to providing secure housing for Emiratis.
Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, confirmed that citizens will have the option to choose their preferred residential areas using a map-based reservation system. This approach aims to support family cohesion and create sustainable communities, with all housing units allocated to citizens within two years.
Maysarah Mahmoud Eid, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre, reiterated the government’s dedication to a dignified quality of life for citizens. He emphasized the importance of high-quality housing in promoting family stability and aligning with Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development goals.
