DUBAI: Saudi Princess Noura bint Turki Al Saud, Sustainable Development Specialist and Founding Partner of AEON strategy, has emphasised the UAE’s success in organising the exceptional 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28).
In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), she said, ‘We congratulate the UAE on its success in hosting COP28, and we salute the COP28 Presidency for its exceptional leadership, the likes of which we have not seen since the leadership of Paris in 2015, for its ability to deal with everyone with diplomacy, impartiality, and understanding the needs of all different parties, especially since the policy it took was of the highest levels.’
Princesses Noura pointed to the great role played by COP28 Presidency in unifying global paths and returning to the correct path of the Paris Agreement, which is to maintain the global temperature rise at 1.5 Celsius, and to develop effective policy to reduce carbon emissions.
She also drew attention that the UAE’s success in COP28 is a success
for the GCC nations and all countries of the whole world, noting that the qualitative advantage that the country added in this edition, is involving all segments of society in its activities, and the inclusion of all sectors that contributed to developing environmentally friendly businesses, and raising the level of awareness of everyone regarding the pressing issues facing the world from the repercussions of climate change.
