Uruguay 3rd place in COPA America, beating Canada via penalty shootout

Uruguay won the third place of the 2024 COPA America tournament in the US, beating Canada in a penalty shootout after ending the match’s full-time in a 2-2 draw.

At the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, Uruguay opened the scoring via Rodrigo Bentancur in the eighth minute.

Canada countered and scored twice in the 22nd and 80th minutes of the match through Ismael Kone and Jonathan David.

Both teams ended the match with a draw, bringing the final battle to the penalty shootout where Uruguay came on top after scoring four goals, whereas Canada managed three.

The final match of the tournament would be held tomorrow at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, pitting also 15-times champions Argentina against Colombia with the former looking for their 16th title and the latter eager for a second troph
